Choosing the Right Acoustic Ceiling Products
Acoustic ceilings offer many benefits to commercial spaces, from improving interior sound comfort to enhancing visual appeal.
MBI Products offers a variety of acoustic ceiling solutions, and our sound experts can advise on which are appropriate for a given project. Deciding factors include building surface materials, the cubic volume of a space, aesthetics desired, acoustical goals, and budget.
Restaurants, for example, are often in dire need of an acoustic ceiling. If you’ve ever been in an eating or drinking establishment where you have to raise your voice to be heard by the person next to you, it’s probably a result of the room’s hard surfaces that allow sound to bounce around easily.
This problem also exists in offices, sports venues, and other commercial spaces with metal ceilings. Normal conversation is hampered by a confusing echo, creating a lack of comprehension and, in some cases, a chaotic atmosphere. Acoustic ceilings that absorb sound and reduce echoes can alleviate (literal) headaches in these spaces, creating a more comfortable environment for occupants.
These acoustical problems can be solved by products from MBI, whether suspended, affixed, flat, or floating from a ceiling.
MBI Products’ range of acoustic ceiling products
Cloud-Lite® Acoustical Baffles
Cloud-Lite® Acoustical Baffles are easily suspended from ceilings, bar joists, horizontally stretched cable, or pre-engineered suspension systems. Cloud-Lite Baffles can be arranged to create different architectural effects, depending on the desired end use of the space, and integrate exceptionally well with existing lighting and HVAC systems within a ceiling or roof.
Lapendary Panels®
Lapendary Panels® are large, unique acoustical banners hung or installed flush to the roof deck or ceiling. Lapendary Panels reduce reverberation time and sound intensity levels in harsh acoustical environments, creating increased speech intelligibility, better communication, and improved quality of sound systems. Lapendary Panels allow a venue to become a multi-functional space. The effectiveness of the Lapendary Panel can be seen (and heard) in any of 120+ sports arenas internationally.
Low Emissivity Lapendary Panels®
Low Emissivity Lapendary Panels® provide an acoustic and energy-saving solution for ceilings in ice rinks. Low-E panels reduce radiant ceiling heat and cut down on ceiling condensation and drip, decreasing the energy usage required for refrigeration. This function lowers a facility’s operating costs while improving overall ice quality — and correcting the space acoustically. In addition, the Low-E facing of an acoustic ceiling improves lighting levels and appearance, making for an even more aesthetically enjoyable experience.
Spectrum Panels
Spectrum Panels are ideal for ceiling spaces that have electrical, mechanical, and fire suppression systems close to the deck. The panels are installed directly on the roof deck and provide excellent absorption when Cloud-Lite Baffles and Lapendary Panels are impractical.
Masquerade
Masquerade and Masquerade DESCOR® systems are designed to have a stunning visual impact on any ceiling and can be installed in as little as a day. This simple yet elegant system gives a flawless look without the dirt and hassle of traditional finishes.
Shadow-Coustic® Acoustical Pads
Shadow-Coustic® Acoustical Pads are guaranteed to provide maximum acoustical performance, encapsulated in any color PVC. Shadow-Coustic Pads are a cost-effective choice intended for use with perforated metal ceilings, wood ceilings, or linear paraline ceilings.
Polyester Board
MBI’s Polyester Board Acoustical Panels are 100% polyester, made from recycled and virgin fibers. These panels were created with environmental friendliness in mind and are fire-resistant rated at Class 1 and Class A. Durable and easy to install directly to the roof deck or ceiling, poly board is formaldehyde-free and resistant to moisture, bacteria, and fungi.
Ceiling Tiles
A wide range of ceiling tiles provide solutions for various acoustic and performance needs. All MBI acoustic ceiling tile products are dimensionally stable, market-friendly, and designed to last a lifetime — at economical prices.

The primary benefit of an acoustic ceiling made with these products is the management of reverberation noise in a space that was constructed using metal, concrete, or glass. Additional benefits include attractive finishes, energy efficiency, and the ability to significantly improve a space without extensive construction.
